How does laser hair removal work?

The diode laser has a specific wavelength of light that is set accordingly, to target the melanin in the hair follicle.  The light is converted into a heat energy that will damage the hair follicle while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Some people compare the feeling of this treatment to tiny elastic bands snapping on the skin.   Pain medicine, such as Tylenol, may be taken prior to your session to help alleviate some discomfort.

Who can benefit from laser hair removal treatments?

Who is not a good candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

It is contraindicated for individuals with an active infection, inflammation, viral, fungal or bacterial diseases, active cold sores or open wounds. Or clients who fall under the 5 & 6 category of the Fitzpatrick scale due to the risk of removing pigmentation in the skin.

What are the risks associated with laser hair removal?

Some clients have experienced swelling or redness at the site the laser was performed, which could last 2 to 48 hours. Only apply a cool damp cloth to the area to help reduce redness or swelling.  It is also possible that you will notice what looks like Goosebumps on your skin for approximately 5 to 7 days. This is actually hair under the surface of your skin that is trying to work its way out and shed from the laser hair removal.  DO NOT PLUCK THESE OR USE ANY GLYCOLIC CREAMS. Gently cleanse the area with soap and warm water daily. DO NOT EXFOLIATE during this time which may last up to 7 days.
